ARTICLE FROM THE BLAZE BY JONATHON M. SEIDL
Attempting to overcome the popularity of Glenn Beck’s 8/28 rally, a group of around 300 liberal and progressive organizations have planned a rally on the National Mall this weekend. According to two new reports, Saturday’s 10/2 march — “One Nation, Working Together” — has also garnered the support of President Obama’s political organizing group as well as multiple churches.
As The Hill reports,
, the Democratic National Committee’s
Organizing for America (OFA), which works to support and build off of Obama’s policies, sent out an e-mail blast supporting the upcoming rally. The message bills the event as “the biggest progressive demonstration in decades.”
A video posted on OFA’s website may offer a glimpse of what the event will look like — an election rally touting Democrats’ success over the last two years while villanizing Republicans:
But OFA is not alone in supporting the rally. Among those who have decided to sponsor the event are multiple church groups: according to the New York Times*, “the march is co-sponsored by the United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, the National Baptist Convention and several Jewish organizations.”
“As people of faith, we deeply care about the issues of justice, education and jobs, and we feel those are issues facing society we have to address,” said Amy Stapleton, a spokeswoman for the United Methodist Church, to the Times. “A march like this is something that hasn’t been accomplished since Dr. King brought people together in 1963 around issues of race, war, class and the right to decent pay and good jobs.”
That could pose some problems if the rally becomes political — which even the Times expects. While many won’t say that the rally will specifically call out Republicans while praising Democrats, “some sponsors sound unmistakably partisan.” Beck’s rally was praised for not becoming political, and instead focusing on values and religion.
“Our rally is standing up for the change we voted for two years ago,” said George Gresham, president of 1199 SEIU, a New York health care union local. He also told the Times that his union has chartered 500 buses to carry 25,000 union members to the rally. The SEIU officially endorsedObama in 2008.
Among the other groups endorsing the rally are the NAACP, the American Federation of Teachers, Al Sharpton’s National Action Network, the SEIU, Jim Wallis’s Sojourners, the AFL-CIO, Communist Party USA, and the Democratic Socialists of America.
The rally also boasts the support of progressive personality Ed Schultz, who claims the event will draw “300 grand”:
ABOVE VIDEO - Shows you how scared they are that they have been found out and that the citizens of the United States know what the radical leftists are doing to our beautiful country.
According to Benjamin T. Jealous of the NAACP, Saturday‘s event will rival Beck’s: “We believe that our satellite photos will stack up nicely to his satellite photos.”
*(Editor’s note: The New York Times has issued a correction to its story. Consequently, The Blaze has written a follow-up that explains and accounts for new information. You can view the story here: “Does the United Methodist Church Really Support Saturday’s One Nation March?”

GLENN: Show me your friends and I will show you your future. That's what my parents, my mother, my grandparents used to say to me all the time: Show me your friends and I will show you your future. Well, that is something that I guess doesn't matter anymore. If your children were hanging out with heroine users, if they were hanging out with felons, ex cons, heroin users, you know, you name it, would you be concerned about your child's future? Would you not have a sit down and say, hey, hey, hey, umm, you know, I know you have some good friends here but I don't understand the heroin user. I don't understand the attraction to all the ex cons you have, the thugs, the thieves. I don't you know, as a dad my daughter is dating an agnostic, okay? I wish he knew, but he doesn't, and that's okay. It's my daughter's choice, and I know that I know that my daughter has really, really good taste, I know that she is smart, I know that she is a good judge of character, and I have met this young man, and I like him a lot. He's a good, decent guy. I like him. Now, if my daughter was dating an atheist, a diehard atheist, I would say, honey, I'm sorry but I've got to say something here. He not only doesn't believe in God, he is going to take you down a road where he's going to build up walls around you and God. This is a this is a bad error in judgment. Okay, I think that's my responsibility as a dad. I think it's my responsibility as a dad if my kids were hanging out with the wrong kind of people that I would say something. Wouldn't you? Show me your friends and I'll show you your future. Well, our president is putting on a little shindig, two of them as a matter of fact, two in Washington, two rallies this month. The first one is this weekend, and I want you to know the reason why they're doing this is because they must make you feel alone. They must make you feel discouraged. They must make you say, well, that 8/28 thing, that was nothing. Now, if they don't have two million people down on the mall, it's going to be a shock. They have to have two million people. They have to. They have 300 organizing partners. This is what they do for a living.
PAT: Some of the biggest organizers in the world.
GLENN: In the world. In the world.
PAT: SEIU, AFL CIO.
GLENN: Green for All, the NAACP, the national council of La Raza, Rainbow PUSH, SEIU 1199, SEIU Service Employees, Sojourners, the UAW, the United States Students Association, the Communication Workers of America, the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the Center for Community Change, the American Federation of Teachers. I mean, if it's
PAT: What these guys do, they organize.
GLENN: The AIDS Walk Washington, the Clerical Workers, Action LA Network.
PAT: You don't want to mess with the clerical workers. I mean
GLENN: Seriously?
PAT: You really don't want to mess with them.
GLENN: No, don't
PAT: Don't even start.
GLENN: Don't do it.
PAT: Don't even start.
GLENN: Don't do it. You have all of the, you know, Get Equal, all of the gay rights organizations who, I mean, you have the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network. These guys organize. That's what they do for a living. So if you're not getting all of these people out and two million people out on the mall, it's a massive failure. But you won't know that. You won't know that because you'll just see, and the media will shoot it in such a way that it will look like a massive gathering, and I predict it will be. But it will it is designed to demoralize you and to make the Democrats feel like, "Oh, we've got something." Well, Democrats, I just want to speak to you. You might be fine with, you know, the AFL CIO and the NAACP and the RainbowPUSH Coalition and SEIU. I don't know why you are cool with especially the unions that are just screwing the American worker. I mean, the UAW, I mean, they have really done a good job in Detroit, haven't they? You may be fine with these, but may I just go through some of the other organizations, and this is all from the website is this 10/2/10 or is this Obama's website? Is this Organizing For America? Because Organizing For America, which is Obama's front organization, his ACORN
PAT: They are pushing it.
GLENN: They are pushing it. Okay. So just ask let me just ask, International ANSWER: Act Now to Stop War and End Racism. Do you know what International ANSWER is? Do you know who's behind International ANSWER?
PAT: It's a communist group.
GLENN: It's not like, "Hey, there's a bunch of commies." This isn't a joke. This is an actual communist group. They're one of the sponsors. Let's see. The Chicago Democratic Socialists of America. What are Democratic socialists?
PAT: Umm...
GLENN: What are they? They sound nice.
PAT: They do.
GLENN: Democratic Socialists.
PAT: They do.
GLENN: Okay. The Democratic socialists in Europe are the Fabian Society. The Fabian Society is a really nasty group. It is the Fabian Society, their logo is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The Democratic socialists, if you've not heard of the Democratic socialists except here in America or you just kind of have heard it, just put it into place this way. When Yeltsin gave the, is it the Dumas, the choice of what to do in Russia, that they could have chaos and revolution and blood in the streets or they could fundamentally transform into a federation of states, the their congress was full of communists. I mean, card carrying, full uniform, diehard, I love Stalin, I love Lenin, Marxist communists. Where did they go? Well, they took their uniforms off and hung it in a closet. What's his name, you know, Putin took off his gun and turned in his KGB uniform, put a suit on, and many of, if not most, became Democratic socialists. It's a nicer name for communist.
So Democratic Socialists of America. The church of Evangelical United Church of Christ. Code Pink, you know who Code Pink is, right? Code Pink are the ones that they go and they harass our Marines in California. The Color For Change by the way, Code Pink is also, they were connected to the flotilla, the anti Israeli flotilla.
STU: Glenn, on that note, too, you talked about International ANSWER a while ago. Remember they're in the same boat here, the Anti Defamation League has hit them as saying this is a quote from their website: Answer's ideology is strongly rooted in the Workers World Party, a revolutionary Marxist, Leninist party found in the 1950s. Goes on to mention that ANSWER and the related group IAC have both repeatedly expressed support for terrorist groups determined to dismantle the state of Israel including Hamas and Hezbollah.
GLENN: Okay. Code Pink is the same thing. Color for Change, you know who that is. They were the first to boycott this program. That is Van Jones' organization. Van Jones started this organization with some other guy. I don't remember his name. He is a communist revolutionary. Read STORM. Then you have the Communist Party USA. The reason why I'm going through these is because last night I got a lot of mail and I said, if you want more information about this weekend's rally and how to organize and how to get there and how to grab a bus, just go to Communist Party USA. Now, this is akin to me saying, hey, if you want some information, go to my website at GlennBeck.com for 8/28 and there we have our sponsors and one of them is the KKK and they'll give more information on the KKK website and you go ahead and just board the bus. In fact, it may be worse for them because just speaking of numbers, communists have killed millions. KKK have killed thousands. I'd like to stand with people who kill none!
STU: That's a good safety tip.
GLENN: That's a good safety tip. Then you have the Democratic Socialists of America, you have the Detroit Democratic Socialists of America, you have
PAT: And people didn't believe you last night. They did not believe you.
GLENN: No.
PAT: Go to the website. Go to CPUSA.
GLENN: Dot org.
PAT: Dot org. Click on the
GLENN: Youth, Communists For Youth or something like that.
PAT: Takes you right to all the information you need for the rally this weekend.
GLENN: Everything, everything.
STU: Again this is an event that the Obama administration's political arm is promoting.
GLENN: Right.
STU: This isn't just some crazy event that happens to agree with some of their policies.
GLENN: And these are this is the official website. So you have the Detroit Socialists of America, you have Ex Offenders Association of Pennsylvania, you have the General Board of Church and Society, United Methodist Church. That is important because the United Methodist Church is playing some sort of game here. It was in the New York Times, and the New York Times got heat for saying that they had endorsed this. And so The Blaze got on it and they started to call and they went to the United Methodist Church and they couldn't figure out what the Methodist church is saying, either. They are saying, well, our one board but not our general board has endorsed this. But not the principles of the organization but the principles of the rally. So do you endorse it or do you not endorse it? Well, yes, we do, but only this board endorsed. They're playing games. If you're a Methodist, you should demand: Do you stand with all of these communist organizations? You have the Humanist party of New York, you have the International Socialist Organization, you have the interfaith worker justice, you have the Jewish Funds For Justice.
STU: Was that the one that ran the ad calling you Hitler, I believe?
PAT: I believe so.
GLENN: I believe so. You have the New York City Democratic Socialists of America, you have the Peace and Freedom Party. That sounds good.
PAT: Seems to be a lot of socialist named groups.
GLENN: Yeah.
STU: And I believe the Peace and Freedom Party is a California, very small party in California but one that endorses like getting, you know, letting Leonard, what is the name Leonard Peltier, the guy who murdered FBI agents out of prison, the guy, you know, Mumia, they are all on that bandwagon.
GLENN: Progressive Congress Action Fund, Progressive Democrats of America, Progressive Democrats, queers for Equal Queers For Economic Justice, the Planned Parenthood.
PAT: Did you skip the Committee of Correspondence For Democracy and Socialism?
GLENN: I did. I didn't see that one.
PAT: I like that one. That's a good group.
GLENN: Let's see. The United Church of Christ, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, blah, blah blah. The Working Family Party and the Ya Ya Network is also.
STU: Yeah, apparently the Ya Ya Network at least what I was told by one of the producers is that they are a group that comes on when military recruiters go to schools, they come on and oppose that and tell the students to not join the military, which is a nice one. And also I should say I did make a mistake that the Peace and Freedom Party was not I remembered it being tied to Leonard Peltier, the guy who was killing, you know, FBI agents, whatever. It wasn't that they were tied to him. It's that they actually ran him for president.
GLENN: Oh.
STU: He was their presidential candidate in 2004. So I'm sorry.
PAT: An egregious error, Stu.
STU: I apologize for the error.
GLENN: I just have to ask. Does the president the NAACP and everybody wants the tea parties to reject racism, and it is easy for me to say I reject racism, I reject race divisions, I reject all those that use it for power one way or another, I reject it and those who play on those fears. Judge a man by the content of his character. It is easy for me to say why I am against racism, that I reject racism, and that you should reject racism. It is easy for me to say, and I could do hours on it.
STU: And have.
GLENN: And have. The president, will he ever reject Marxism, communism, revolutions? Will he ever reject any of those things?
PAT: Socialism.
GLENN: He has he will always joke about it, but when you're standing with people that have called for violent revolutions, when you have when you are standing with people who are calling for an overturning of the American system, don't you think it's important for the president to reject it, clearly, clearly and say communism is wrong, socialism with Marxism and revolutionaries is wrong and here is why, and I reject it, wholly and unequivocally.
STU: You could do that. Or you could officially promote their events. I mean, there's two ways to go on that one.
GLENN: One way or another.
